Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I had a lovely time filled with wonderful friends, lots of costumes, candy and a little vodka. It was a good time.

On Saturday, Adam and his roommates hosted a Halloween party at their house. After many last minute changes, I decided on my Halloween costume:

So lady-like. I know.

Some other great costumes:

Where's the fire?!

It's a-me, Mario!

I pity the fools...

Happy Halloween ladies and gents! Have fun and be safe…and take it easy on the candy 😉

A few months ago you never would have found a color other than red or pale pink of my nails.

Progress people. This is progress.

Things Are About To Get Cheesy Around Here.

Really cheesy.

Looks like Nordstrom wasn’t the only target I hit this week….

Saturday morning, after I had decided that I as going to spend the day cleaning and watching old reruns of Beverly Hills 90210 (Thank you Soap Network!) my girlfriend Lauren called and wanted to see if I would like to accompany her to fundraising event at Nordstroms with her. Would I???

Being Breast Cancer Awareness month, there was pink everywhere. In addition to the beverages and snacks (unpictured) there really was a fundraiser going on. All bra purchases made resulted in a portion of the profits going to the Susan G. Komen foundation. Lauren and I were happy to oblige.

And since we were already there…a stop was made at the Nordstrom Cafe. Loooooove.

The swag

A little wine, a little pizza, a lot of talk. It was a good day.

We were happy ladies.

Very happy ladies.
Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

Thor: My Dad and Stepmom's wonderpup.

Tell me you guys remember that episode from Seinfeld. Hilarious.

I’m not going to lie, I have not felt like blogging much lately. I definitely haven’t felt like cooking. Although, I’ve really mastered the art of PB&Js. (The secret: lots of peanut butter AND jelly).

So what have I been up to?

Sunning, giving myself mani/pedis and drinking fake margaritas. (The secret: I use lemon lime flavored Crystal Light…don’t judge – they’re delicious)

I am getting the itch to cook something up. I have a butternut squash sitting in my kitchen that is screaming for me to do something with it. I’ve already decided I’m not just roasting it, I’m going to do something special with it, damnit!

So yah, things are good over here.

He’s Got Tricks and Tricks

The other day I thought I’d be a nice girlfriend and make dinner. A man dinner. So I made my way to the market got the (cheapest) nicest steak they had, some mushrooms and onions and made my way to the boy’s house.

Jane Austen was right, there ARE truths universally acknowledged. The main truth being that steak is always a good idea when trying to impress a man.

What I didn’t anticipate was that the bread would steal the show. Alas, I cannot take credit for it. It was all Adam’s doing. His delicious doing. Take a nice crusty baguette. smother in butter, dust in parmesan and put under the broiler. This will result in mind-blowing carb heaven.

Oh Adam, you’ve got skills.

Don’t think about calculating the calories in this plate. They didn’t count.

What’s your go-to dinner when trying to make an impression?

What To Do When You Lose Your Job

Call your Mom.

Drink wine. Lots of it.

Consider managing your Fantasy Football team as a full-time job.

Let your boyfriend cook you dinner. And bring flowers. And wine. (This is less of something to do, and more of a bonus).

Alas, in the past few days I have found myself doing all of the above.

And yet, I’m not feeling too bad for myself. I’ve decided to use this as an opportunity to find something to do that I love. I’m not sure quite what that means yet, but I’m certain I’ll find it.

In the meantime, I’m finally getting a hankering to get back in the kitchen. Peanut butter sandwiches have been good to me this week, but there’s a butternut squash on my counter that is SCREAMING for me to do something with it.

I’ve clearly got the time….

I Do What I Want

I live in La Jolla, so although it’s October, it’s still in the 70’s. But I don’t care.

I’ve been wearing these every day for the last two weeks.

And I see no sign of stopping. At least until May.
